The Journey Behind the Art
Betty Higgins is an emerging abstract mixed media artist whose work is deeply rooted in emotion, memory, nature, and personal connection. Based just outside of Cleveland with a second home along the Gulf Coast of Florida, her artistic perspective is influenced by both the energy of the Midwest and the calming beauty of coastal life.
Art has been a lifelong passion for Betty. From a young age, she found herself drawn to creating, experimenting with different artistic forms, and expressing emotion visually. As an art major in high school, she dreamed of building a creative life, though she was once discouraged from pursuing art professionally. Still, the desire to create, and one day open her own gallery, never left her.
In the early 2000s, Betty exhibited photography and paintings in a gallery in Erie, further strengthening her connection to the art world. Alongside her husband, she built a successful career in real estate while continuing to collect art and nurture her creative vision. Now, nearly four decades after first imagining a gallery of her own, Betty has fully embraced her artistic journey and is currently enrolled in the Milan Art Institute Mastery Program.
Working primarily in abstract mixed media, Betty creates intuitive pieces filled with movement, layered texture, and expressive color. Her work is intended to connect emotionally with viewers, evoking memories, loved ones, meaningful moments, and deeply personal feelings that words often cannot express. She believes art should move people, inspire reflection, and remind others that it is never too late to pursue the life they truly want.
Betty is also passionate about commissioned work, valuing the opportunity to create deeply personal pieces that capture something meaningful for each client. Through both her artwork and future vision for Betty’s Visions, she hopes to create experiences that inspire emotion, beauty, and connection.
